We're pleased to announce The Acadian Coloring Book is now available to purchase!
This custom-made coloring book celebrates the daily lives of young Acadians from the 1930s/1940s to today. The Acadian Coloring Book explores Acadian culture and daily life in the Valley through 43 pages of original illustrations and franglais text on each page composed specifically with non-fluent readers in mind. You can take a look at select pages on our Projects page.
The generous support of our local sponsors and grant funders allowed us to deliver free copies to all the schools in the St John Valley, enough for every Pre-K - Grade 12 student to receive their own copy. We're excited to share this resource with an entire generation at once.
Having reached the schools, copies are now available for sale! Copies are $15 +$5 shipping and handling, payable in cash or checks.
Orders can be placed by:
1. Using our Contact Us form at the bottom of this page.
2. Emailing info@grandislehistoricalsociety.org; or
3. Calling 207-895-6949
Please tell us:
1. How many copies you want.
2. If you'll be picking them up or if you need them mailed.
3. The address where to mail your copies.
We're a small organization of mostly older volunteers. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with our slightly old-school sales methods that match our capabilities.
The shipping and handling fee is the same no matter how many copies you get. There is no shipping and handling fee if you come pick up your copies in Grand Isle.
Wholesale pricing is available for businesses or individuals looking to re-sell to the public. Please contact the historical society for wholesale pricing.
We're a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The proceeds from all coloring book sales will be dedicated funds that go towards printing more copies. The goal is to always be able to print more when we need them.
We are a group of community members passionate about our history, language, culture, and people in our beloved Grand Isle. We preserve artifacts and collect histories, and we put on a variety of interesting events to share and celebrate that heritage today. We believe our history is vibrant and alive, and we love sharing that with others!
Want to know what's happening in le beau Grand Isle? We welcome all new faces and imaginations, and we don't even put you to work at first! Get in touch if you want to be on our newsletter, or want to know when our next events are happening. We like suggestions and ideas too! We'll make sure you're in the loop.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
It takes all of us to tend the flames of our history and to carry it forward. All of your donations and gifts, the memories you share, the photos and objects you give to the museum, the countless hours of volunteering you do--these are the things that keep our traditions alive! From all of us, un gros merci!
We are active and responsible fundraisers, and we know the history of this town is one of people coming together. Your donations support our work and let us preserve and celebrate our rich history. Merci beaucoup!
